SIR and SIR Foundation joined with 24 other medical societies today in a statement supporting the March for Science in Washington, D.C, on April 22.
The March for Science is a nonpartisan effort to demonstrate support for scientific research, education and investment. As health care professionals, you know the importance of scientific research to developing and delivering groundbreaking treatments that save lives.
We urge you to support this call for evidence-based research by marching locally and/or sharing your support on social media. Please tag us in your posts on Twitter (@SIRSpecialists) and Instagram (@SIR_VisiontoHeal) and include the hashtags #MarchforScience, #sciencemarch and #irad.
By supporting this cause, SIR and other medical societies are asking Congress to protect federal funding of the National Institutes of Health and other key health care agencies to ensure that medicine continues to move toward cures for devastating diseases. The threat to this funding makes SIR Foundation’s work even more critical to securing our own research funding. Please consider making a donation to SIR Foundation to honor the spirit of this march.
