Innovation. Impact. Insight.
Building a culture of research is crucial to the future of interventional radiology, and it starts with understanding the impact of trials.
Today’s plenary lecture, “From Pipettes to Patients: The Importance of Research,” will feature guest speakers from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Janice Lee, DDS, MD, MS, clinical director of NIDCR and deputy director for intramural clinical research, and Monica Webb Hooper, PhD, deputy director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, will present, followed by a brief panel discussion.
Both Drs. Webb Hooper and Lee have strong medical backgrounds—Dr. Lee completed her residency in general surgery and oral and maxillofacial surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital before joining the staff of NIDCR. Dr. Webb Hooper is an internationally recognized translational behavior scientist and licensed clinical health psychologist.
In addition to Drs. Lee’s and Webb Hooper’s presentations, SIR Foundation Chair Katharine L. Krol, MD, FSIR, will address members and present SIR Foundation awards. According to Dr. Krol, "The researchers being recognized in this session are the rock stars of the future of IR. I hope everyone comes and recognizes their efforts and achievements."
