Description:

***To apply to become a MSC Reserves member, please utilize this link to access the form.

The Reserves of the Medical Student Council is a companion organization to the SIR Medical Student Council (MSC) that provides a pool of motivated medical students who are able to dedicate a significant amount of time to complete short term projects (usually 5-10 hours per week for 1-6 weeks) during lighter times in their academic calendars.

To clarify, the Reserves is not part of the MSC, rather it is an alternative for those who only have a few months to dedicate. In addition, Reserve members who have worked on a project with an MSC committee and have done an exceptional job can be preferentially considered for membership in that specific committee by the committee chair at the time of the next MSC application cycle. Please inform the respective Committee Chair if you are interested in the pathway to MSC membership. Consideration for another committee(s) will require an official application. MSC applications will be available in late March.

The Reserves Chairs, Talia Fradkin and Fatima Choudhry, currently oversees the Reserves and keeps a record of each member's availability and skill set to facilitate effective matching of qualified students to projects. Please note that, unlike the MSC applications, the Reserves application is currently always open, accepting new Reserve members on a rolling basis. You can expect to be assigned one project, pending adequate availability, during the academic year. After participating in a project, you would be granted an honorable release with the option to join again in 6 months time.

If you have any questions regarding the Reserves of the MSC or this application, please email me at sirmsreserves@gmail.com.
