SIR at-large directors are voting members of the SIR Board of Directors. The board of directors is the chief governing and policymaking body of SIR. The board is empowered to carry out the business of the society and is responsible for fiduciary oversight. It is responsible for overseeing and transacting the business necessary to achieve SIR's goals and to fulfill its mission. The position of at-large director is an appointed position.

All nominees must be active members in good standing. Members of the SIR and SIR Foundation Nominating Committees are not eligible to be nominated for any position. Nominations are considered confidential.
