The purpose of the Women in IR (WIR) section is to promote women within the specialty by inspiring and empowering women interventional radiologists to achieve their personal and professional goals and serve as a resource to SIR. The governing council of the section shall serve as the executive body of WIR, and its leadership shall define and oversee the projects and initiatives as subject to the mission statement of WIR.
The governing council of the section shall be composed of the three leaders of the section and any at-large members deemed necessary. The leadership of the section shall be at a minimum the chair, the vice chair and the secretary. The leadership shall be members of the section. The chair, vice chair and secretary will serve for a term of one year that will coincide with the dates of the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. To accomplish a smooth transition in the management of the Women in IR section from year to year, the secretary shall become the vice chair, and the vice chair shall become chair.
Qualifications
- Shall be an active member or Fellow in good standing of SIR and a member of the Women in IR section
- Shall be actively practicing interventional radiology
Specific duties of the position
- Shall attend all Women in IR governing council meetings and calls
- Shall assist the section chair in the preparation of content for monthly WIR governing council meetings
- Shall facilitate communication to section members and SIR leadership as appropriate
- Shall assist section chair with appointment of new membership and leadership
- Shall carry out such other duties as are assigned by the chair of the section and the SIR Executive Council

Appointment and term in office
The WIR leadership will review nominations and appoint new leaders.
