The annual SIR and SIR Foundation call for volunteers is now open! Please note that this form is for later-stage medical students and residents who are interested in serving as members of a three-year committee/volunteer group. The application for the annual call includes the following groups for the 2027 to 2030 term. Kindly note that these groups are not managed under the RFS Section and have early, mid and late career physician leaders guiding activities and initiatives.
Members are encouraged to learn more about specific groups that interest them through the committee charge page and committee meeting times page.
Application Cycle
SIR and SIR Foundation encourage members to apply to join an education or clinically focused committee, or one of the many other committees/volunteer groups that fit an area of expertise or interest. These committees offer members opportunities to influence the practice and study of medicine, network with colleagues in similar fields of expertise and participate in leadership activities. Annually, the SIR and SIR Foundation hold an open call for committee volunteers in August. Please submit your application for consideration in this application cycle. If you have questions about the committee appointment process, feel free to contact volunteer@sirweb.org or learn more through our volunteer informational page.
Committee Terms and Commitment
Members can serve on a committee for a maximum of two consecutive three-year terms (up to six years). Commitment varies based on level of activity of each committee. All committee members must attend volunteer group meetings and participate in conference calls. In-person meetings are usually held during the Annual Scientific Meeting. We ask that members who currently serve on three or more committees/volunteer groups refrain from completing an application form to allow other members to have an opportunity to serve.
