Description:

The charge of the SIR International Division Liaison to the Annual Scientific Committee shall be to foster collaboration between the International and Annual Scientific Meeting Divisions of the Society of Interventional Radiology. As the steward to a multiyear strategic plan to increase engagement of the Global IR community in SIR’s flagship educational event, the liaison shall provide continuity to society efforts, measure the effectiveness of Society initiatives and ensure that the work product(s) of these divisions is complementary and aligned with this plan. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Society’s Strategic Plan to engage members of the Global IR community.
  • Prepare and support a multi-year plan designed to increase the participation of the IR Community in SIR’s Annual Scientific Meeting.
    • Provide continuity to the Annual Meeting Division in the implementation of this plan over multiple years.
    • Annually review and measure the effectiveness of the plans associated strategies and tactics to determine if the plans goals are being met. 
    • Report on progress to the Annual Meeting and International Division Councilors and recommend refinements or revisions to the plan as needed. 
    • Recruit SIR members and stakeholders for volunteer opportunities as needed to fulfill the plan. 

Meetings and Conference Calls

  • Participate in meetings and Conference calls of the International Division as requested by the International Division Councilor.
  • Attend all SIR Annual Scientific Meetings during the term.
  • Participate in Annual Meeting planning meetings and conference calls as needed.

Fiduciary Obligations and Governance

  •  Adhere to the organization’s conflict of interest policy by annually completing disclosure form annually or as necessary and declare any relevant conflicts openly during discussion at the committee meeting.
  • Be aware of and adhere to the organization’s policy of strict compliance with federal and state antitrust laws.
  • Ensure that members abide by their duties as described and recommend action for members and consultants who do not actively participate.

Experience required:

  • Shall have been an active member or fellow in good standing for at least three years
  • Shall have shown commitment to the Society by active service on an SIR committee or task force as a member or chair for a minimum of three years
  • Shall be actively practicing interventional radiology or have practiced a minimum of 10 years
