The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) Clinical Specialty Councils (CSCs) are charged with advising and developing programs and services for SIR members on both image-guided procedures and non-procedural patient care. Each CSC shall provide critical assessment and oversight of the overall status of IR and of existing SIR activities within that clinical domain.
Additionally, the CSCs are responsible for integrating with SIR and SIR Foundation efforts in clinical practice development, economics and health policy, research, quality, education/training, and communications into an overall development strategy for that clinical domain; and effectively communicate the CSCs’ strategic direction to the other SIR divisions on an ongoing basis.
Trainees provide a unique and valuable perspective to the CSCs, utilizing recent experiences to effect change and bring improvements to SIR’s trainee-focused resources. Additionally, trainees gain insight and experience on other society projects such as member surveys, reimbursement letters, programming, and more. Trainees must have completed an accredited course of study leading to an MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree. Trainee members serve a one-year term with an option for a one-year reappointment.
